Exciting news coming from Microsoft is that .NET Maui Release Candidate (RC) has been launched!
Being the trendsetters that we are, PDS Code are already working on a Maui project to replace a system built around a legacy Android and iOS app. We aim to have this live before the end of the year, which will make it one of the first Maui apps available in the app stores.
Maui has been introduced as a replacement for Xamarin. It builds on the Xamarin concept of “write once run many”, but has many improvements, and allows developers to target more than just the Android and iOS platforms from a single code base.
Our experience with Maui so far has been a very positive one, and we are confident that it is going to be the best app development framework available. The only negative we have come across so far is that the conversion from Xamarin to Maui isn’t straightforward (and in reality probably won’t be an option for most real world scenarios).
With this release, Xamarin will now start the journey towards retirement, so it is time to start factoring this in your app development roadmap.
If you are looking for mobile app development, or want to migrate from a legacy or Xamarin platform to Maui get in touch!
